My 1995 ford contour will turn over but wont run when the engine has been warmed up.?
1995 ford contour will start when its been sitting for a while. After I turn it of It will turn over but will not start. I started it up first thing the other morning, it ran for approx- 30 miles shut right down - would turn over but coulnt start back up. Need help please give me helpfull suggestions very frustrated!
The engine could be flooded with gas on a hot start due to a leaking fuel injector. To test whether that's the problem, try turning the key to on (not start) for 5 seconds, and then off for 5 seconds two times in a row before actually starting the engine.
Then, hold the accelerator pedal all the way to the floor which tells your computer to enter the "clear flood" mode. That prevents any more fuel from being injected into the engine and opens the throttle plate fully to allow as much air as possible into the engine. If it starts better when the engine's hot, you'll know to tell the repair shop the test you did.
