Trying to remove stuck can from exhaust pipe of 99 Dodge?
Has anyone had to do this, with a can stuck in the exhaust pipe. I tried to drill it and it pushed up farther. My dad is saying saw the pipe off but this would mean a new muffler, I am out of $$$$.
If you could push it up a little farther so it sticks in place you may be able to drill it so you could get a strong wire hook onto it and pull it out, this will only work if there is a bend near the end or the box is close to the end, if it's stuck magnets are Disney land. Another thing I would try if all else fails, and to save the cost of a back box is to measure how far the in the can is, then use this measurement on the outside and drill a small hole behind where the can is and insert a nail in the hole to keep the can from moving in, drill a hole and use a wire hook, the small hole can be taped over with exhaust bandage,
Some of the things we have to do to save money are a bit odd and unusual but in most cases it pays off. With enough ingenuity you will get it out.
