What would make this a racing car ?
67 fastback shelby clone / elenor
I have a 429 cobra jet with dual exaust , not much else though .
I want this to be a racing car tell me what I can put on this car to make it really fast include parts ,and supercharger ,nitros, anything that can convert this car into a beast racing machine, also tell me how i should go about strenthening the parts and metal on my car to withstand alot of speed in a short time.
The very first thing you must do is to decide on what type of racing you intend to do with this car. Then go to the track(s) where you intend to race and get a copy of their rule book. I have seen people spend big bucks on modifications only to find out during tech inspection that the car was illegal and not allowed on the track. The owner then had to spend even more money making the car legal.
Next, go to your local speed shop. Find the most expensive racing parts in their catalogs. And start spending money. New heads, camshaft, valve train, pistons, connecting rods, crank shaft, headers, intake, carburetor(s), ignition system, etc.
You will next need to bring some of these parts to a racing machine shop for even further modifications. Balancing the rotating assembly. De-burring the block. Knife edging the crank. Porting and polishing the heads. Port matching the manifolds. Etc.
Then have your engine assembled. Either by yourself or by a professional race engine builder. It may also be a good idea to have the engine dyno tuned. They will help you get the maximum power from your engine by coming up with the correct carb jetting, correct plugs, and best ignition timing.
Depending on the type and class of racing you may or may not be allowed additional power adders. Things like nitrous, blower, turbocharger, etc. You may want to talk to some of the drivers while at the track. See what works and what doesn't. Be prepared for a certain amount of B.S. It's all part of the game.
Then go out and buy a racing clutch, pressure plate, flywheel, shifter, transmission, etc. Some rule books require a clutch blanket.
Then go out and buy a new differential, the correct gears, stronger axles, bigger brakes, etc.
Then, depending on what type of racing you will be doing start making suspension modifications. Maybe a 4 link.
Then get some racing tires and rims.
Add the required safety modifications. Full roll cage, fire suppression, fire suit, gloves, shoes, helmet, etc. Really important that you follow your rule book to the letter in this section.
Every step along the way consult your rule book. Better to find out before you spend big bucks on a racing part than to find out later in tech that it is illegal.
