How much power can I expect?
I have a 2006 Chevrolet 1/2 ton Crew Cab 2wd. It has the 4.8l V-8 with the 4spd auto. The factory specs say is has 285 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque. Currnetly I get 16-17 MPG (city, and around 20-21 on the highway. I want to add some performance/mileage upgrades. My plans include a cat-back dual exhaust system (2 1/2" - mandrel bent, exiting under the rear bumper), a K&N Cold air intake (63 series ), a POWERAID Throttle Body Spacer, re-turning the CPU with a Superchip tuner, and switching to a synthetic oil. I am also planning on adding an auxillary engine oil cooler, and a transmission cooler. My question is this: With these upgrades what kind of power increase (numbers) can I expect?
exhaust- 10-20 hp/2-5lb-ft
Intake- 2-10hp/ 1-3lb-ft
Throttle body spacer- 0 hp/0 lb-ft
Superchip tuner 30-80hp/40-120lb-ft
engine oil cooler 0 hp/0 lb-ft
Transmission cooler 0 hp/0lb-ft
sometimes a total synthetic fluid upgrade can raise numbers, but I wouldn't get your hopes up for too much with just a synthetic oil---Royal Purple is really the best and the only that really shows number improvements
