Help Honda Experts! Problems with 2006 civic after installing intake manifold and header, plz help!!?
Hi. I recently had a shop install an intake manifold and a header in my 2006 honda civic with the r18, 4cyl. engine (non SI). Ever since the installation the car sometimes dies when accelerating after being stopped at a stoplight, or when the car is idling pressing the gas will cause the car to die sometimes.
The shop says the reason is because of a bad throttle response and that I need more parts, however the parts came from procivic, and weapon r is the maker of the parts. Niether of them offer any more parts to compliment the intake manifold and the header. The shop cannot figure out how to solve the problem, and I've called all of the other local shops to ask if they know what to do...no such luck. ANy honda experts with some ideas?
Did they re-use the factory intake manifold gasket? if so theres a chance for a leak and can cause this problem, also are they absolutely positive all vacuum lines a routed correctly? it sounds like a vacuum leak causing this, get a can of starting fluid and while the car is running spray the mist near the intake manifold and see if the mist gets sucked in anywhere or you may be able to feel with your hands for any air.
