2.0 SOHC non turbo modification?
I just ordered a Force Flow X4, voltage regulator and fuel pressure regulator, K&N air filter and got my exhaust done with a catback system. Just the catback by itself isnt't that great to be honest... since my car has only 92kw stock... Although the Force Flow should increase my hp quite a bit I was just wondering if anyone has installed a turbo on a 2 litre SOHC or knows anyone that has done so. I read a lot of comments on installing a turbo on a non turbo stock impreza engine and it seems to me that it is not recommended. However, I have come across some people that argue that it is possible and safe if done within reason (low pressure boost). Haven said that, is it worth while to use a low pressure boost? Can anyone pls help me! Cheers.
Well, running a turbo on a non turbo engine is nto the same, you will be spending tons of cash just to get maybe about 10 to 15 hp more as you will def have to run it on low boost as the piston rings are not meant to take such pressure and most importantly, I mean it, read it well, your header gasket will pop!! Due to the increased pressure, lets say you even run it at 1 bar, thats 14.5psi it may end up pissing the gasket off and if you pop the gasket, it's top overhaul for you bud. My advice is, get an engine, a turbo engine and slip it in,not much to do there in terms of mods but you have what you want, Power!!! It sounds easy to just slip a turbo in and viola, you have instant horses, thats the hard way! Go with getting a replacemt engine bro. You dont want to pop the Header gasket, Almost all turbo, blower engines have what they call a metal gasket. Instead of the fiber types, i know what u thinking, why dont i just put a metal gasket in?? NO ! Your pistons will not handle the added pressure, you will get what they call a blow by and if it gets too hot, which turbo cars do, you may end up blowing ahole in a piston. So, get a rebuilt or 2nd hand engine, ok?
