Mitsubishi Colt 1.5 turbo Diesel, 2008 registered.?

Mitsubishi say it is a 3 cylinder engine but when I lift the bonnet I can see a 4 branch exhaust manifold and what look like 4 injectors in the cylinder head.
It sounds like a 3 cylinder engine when it is under power.
Can anyone solve this confusion ?

I haven't got a clue what's going on under the bonnet of any car from this century.
Tatrafan, this is my car, of 5doors two were left working properly, last night I heard a ping! snap! & this morning I cant open my car at all.
It must be the summer heat I guess, all the handles are flaccid.
