Why am I missing EGR pipe?
My project is an 89 isuzu trooper. I bought it used 2 years ago and have been working on it off and on for that time. Anyhow when I removed the head/ exhaust and intake I couldn't help but notice there was no egr pipe. In fact where the pipe goes into the exhaust manifold and comman chamber all there is is what looks like oil plugs.
Also missing is the fast idle solenoid.
The trooper is an 89 with the I-tec multi port fuel injection the compression is bad (that's why I took off the head), and it has a bad motor mount. My guess is that these modifications where made to try and offset these problems and give the truck better performance. Or they forgot it on some other repair or it got damaged and they just didn't feel like replacing this. Any other ideas why someone would do this?
my guess is that they didn't want to pay for the repair, leaving it the way it is now wont hurt performance but will cause higher emissions at the tailpipe
