I have an 03 dodge ram cummins turbo diesel, sometimes you have to give it a shot of starting fluid to start it?
Sometimes it will start on its own. When it does start on its own it is usually cold so im thinking that rules out the glow plugs.
I changed the fuel filter and it seemed to fix it for a few days. and sometimes if you drain the canister and start it with starter fluid to get it going the first time it will start fine for a few weeks, but that doesnt always work.
for starters your engine does not have glow plugs. it has an intake air grid heater. look under the intake pipe and fine the wires going there that is the heater. when ever you get your oil changed you need to have your fuel filter changed. it and the water separator are the same housing. it is a canister type filter. this along with a weakening injection pump can be your most likely trouble. just change the filter first and if its not cured its most likely your injection pump. they are notorious for going bad. also is your check engine light on? If it is then it could be the injection pump or the engine speed sensor
