Aluminized steel exhaust system?
I was looking at an aluminized exhaust system for my 1997 GMC k1500 and i was just wondering if that tends to rust? I was wondering so if it does i could paint it with the high temp paint from duplicolor before i put it on my truck to keep it from rusting as bad. Thanks!
The aluminizing is supposed to prevent rust however a can of duplicolor is like $5 so you may as well paint it though it won't help much if it rusts from the inside out.
Aluminized stuff should last fairly long though whenever you can get it I'd recommend spending extra for stainless, real aluminum or titanium.
I work with metal a lot and a lot of steels rust overnight, I'd hate to have anything with that kind of property in my exhaust whether it's aluminized or not.
