will performance modifications affect my trade-in price?
i have an 03 Lancer LS. I have installed since I was stupid enough:
Short Ram Intake (learned my lesson)
Magnaflow Muffler
High-Flow Cat. Converter
yes it sounds hot. never did anything to performance (me being an ignorant child). just a slight increase. will this affect the dealer's decision on trade-in pricing or rather just condition on wear and tear and body/paint condition?
Dealers evaluate the vehicles trade-in value based on vehicle condition, mileage, and market conditions. The modifications you have made to your Lancer should have no impact to the trade-in value. I have seen few exceptions when the mods had a negative impact on the value because the dealer had to invest money to get the car back to normal specs, but I think you should be fine for now.
But, before you go in with your trade, make sure you have a good idea of what your lancer is worth.
