exhaust flange donut leak from 86 camaro?
I installed a new set of the donut gaskets that go in between the manifold and downpipes. the drivers side is fine. but the passenger side is making that ticking noise. i knew it was leaking when i put my hand behind where the gasket is and felt the exhaust blowing against my palm, and iv'e heard this leak will actually raise your h/p a bit but murder the torque, is this true?
thank you for the responses.. i will fix it as fast as i can. i just noticed the car had way less performance than whe i bought it, and its baerly been driven since ive owned it maybe 90 miles
a lack ofg back pressure is a bad thing. without it the piston is free top move as it wants to. in that situation you can wear the piston and or cylinder bore to an oblong shape. that bore will make it hard for the piston rings to rotate and seal. never mind the fact that the leak will make the o2 sensors inactive and the check engine light will be on.
