Toyota Celica, adding a muffler?
I drive an Automatic 91 celica sx, which is 4 cylinder, 2.2 liter.
I just want to put a cannon muffler,

to make it sound more like a typical "jap car" etc.
ITS NOT A WHOLE CAT BACK SYSTEM FROM THE MANIFOLD BACK. Just the tip would now become a cannon.
So I'd be changing it from this (STOCK STANDARD):
To this (AFTERMARKET CANNON):http://i575.photobucket.com/albums/ss198/Keagan1991/Muffler.jpg
I don't drive my car hard at all. I get about 600k off a full tank, which Australian costs me $30.
Would putting a cannon muffler on, make my fuel consumption any different, since I don't push my car to its limits and burn up gas as it is now...
We typically call those "melon shooters" in the import world.
Also sir or madam, the term "Jap" is a racial slur, please don't use it anymore.
Onto your question. I don't believe you'd be able to switch to that without having to buy an axleback or catback system. Axleback includes just the muffler(canon). Catback includes the midpipe and muffler (canon). Either that, or you'd have to have someone fabricate it/ weld it.
Putting on a different muffler should not have any adverse effects on your gas mileage (or car, in general). You'll definitely have a different sound and more attention though.
