Road Runner Turbo Indy 300 Tickets - Irl Season Opens With A Bang

For IndyCar drivers Marco Andretti and Mario Moraes, the Sao Paolo Indy 300 in Brazil might be a race worth forgetting. The opener to the 2010 IRL season started out very similar to last year's Indy 500 for the two youngsters, with a Turn 1 melee that ended with Moraes swiping the back of Andretti's car and leaving both drivers to bow out prematurely. And so this year's IndyCar Series began with sheer chaos, picking up right where it left off in 2009 and gearing up for one wild ride this spring and summer.

While Marco Andretti and Mario Moraes will spend the upcoming weeks playing catch-up, Aussie native Will Power will attempt to fend off IRL drivers looking to overthrow him from his throne at No. 1 early on in the season. After the Sao Paolo race, Power sits in first place in standings, while Ryan Hunter-Reay follows him at No. 2, Vitor Meira at No. 3, Raphael Matos at No. 4 and Dan Wheldon at No. 5. Last year's heavy hitters Dario Franchitti and Scott Dixon follow at No. 6 and No. 7, respectively, and these are the two drivers to watch heading into the early part of the IndyCar season.

Dario Franchitti stole the IndyCar Series title from Scott Dixon during last year's championship, and this year's set of races look to be even more competitive from the get-go. As the months of April and May ensure, IRL drivers and fans look to Birmingham, Long Beach and Kansas City races to prep the IndyCar Series for the Indianapolis 500 on May 30, and it looks like it might just come down to a Dixon/Franchitti fight to the finish again this year.

With the upcoming stretch of races, all eyes are on the Road Runner Turbo Indy 300 to give a significant nod to how the 2010 Indy 500 will go. The Kansas City race is always one of the most thrilling oval courses on the schedule, and Scott Dixon is out to defend his '09 win at the May 1 showdown. At last year's Road Runner Turbo Indy 300, Scott Dixon cruised to his first win of the season, taking Target Chip Ganassi Racing to the top as he held off Brazilians Helio Castroneves and Tony Kanaan at the end of the straightaway. Dario Franchitti, who had won the race the previous week in Long Beach, made contact with the wall early on, leaving him out of contention for the big win. Franchitti has never won the Kansas City race, and this year the Target Chip Ganassi Racing driver is looking forward to May 1, when he'll attempt to follow in teammate Scott Dixon's footsteps.

As the 2010 IndyCar Series gets well underway, these first set of races in April and May will set the tone for the rest of the year. With Danica Patrick trying her hand at NASCAR this year, all eyes are on the IRL's golden girl to see if she can balance a dual NASCAR/IndyCar schedule. If she can't, there are plenty of IRL drivers ready to take her spot in open-wheel racing. What will come of Marco Andretti and Mario Moreas as the series comes full-throttle into racing season?
