mopar 225 slant six help.?

i am buying a 1971 dodge demon with a 225 slant six in it with a 904 tranny. it has a 71/4 rear with 2.76 gears but im putting in a 8 3/4 with 3.55 gear. the previous owner told me that it was very bad at acceleration with the 7 1/4 but will the 8 3/4 with the new gears make it accelerate better, i heard it would a lot. i plan to dress up the /6 a little and the new rear i think i will be happy with. is there anything else i can do to the six to squeeze some more power out of it. dont say put in a v8 because the 6 has very low mileage and runs good i just want some more power. also im only 15 so cash comes very tough. maybe someday i will put in a mopar crate motor like a 300 hp 360 or something but for now i want to upgrade the six. any tips are greatly appreciated, thanks.

The 225 Slant 6 is capable of producing 675 horsepower if it is prepared correctly. No I am not full of it, I know. First off, you need to disassemble. Everything needs to be inspected and the block needs to go to a machine shop where it can be "Magnafluxed" for weaknesses and completely boiled out clean as new. Next, you need a new crankshaft, rods and pistons. A cam kit and timing set is on hand. The head needs to be ground and ported to accept the new Edelbrock intake manifold. The head also needs to be fitted with new oversize valves. The new manifold will accept a Holly 750 or a 685CFM Carter A.F.B. This thing will be mean, have a tranny on hand that can take it.
