Is the clutch going out in my 2004 Toyota Matrix XRS?
When I shift up and accelerate, my 2004 Toyota Matrix XRS revs higher than normal with much acceleration. Then, the RPM's fall back down to the normal level and regular acceleration continues. It basically feels like I have lost some power.
The clutch on the first generation matrix XRS is notoriously weak... particularly the 03 and 04 models. Basically, they gave us the same clutch as the celica GT-S, but forgot that they gave us taller wheels and more weight. sounds like yours is getting slow to engage, so it's probably slipping a bit. I'd recommend changing it soon, but don't go with another OEM clutch. Check out http://www.matrixowners.com for recommendations on what aftermarket clutch to get.
