Is it possible to put a 3.0 engine out of a 3000gt in my 96 mitsubishi eclipse gst? if so what would i change?
im just curious if it would be possible to take an engine out of a 3000gt and put it in my 96 eclipse gst. without breaking the bank. if so what about the vr4 addition and what all would i have to change?
You probably can. You will need to scavenge the mounts and assorted bits from an Avenger/Sebring coupe with a 6G73 (Avenger/Sebring from95-00 is essentially just a stretched Eclipse chassis)
The all wheel drive and steering is another thing entirely. The 3000GT/GTO was a wider gauge car than the Eclipse. Closer to a Diamante than a Galant. It would take serious fabrication skills to adjust the width of various components, set up the alignment and thrust angles. The cost to benefit ratio is against this sort of mating.
By the time you finish, you could have bought a really good condition 3000GT VR4 and had money left over to mod your GST
My problem is that your 4G63T can do almost everything the 6G72 does and does it without making your car nose heavy. Stick with the 4G63T. If you need AWD buy a GSX donor.
