Physics problem I don't understand?
An ideal fluid, of density 0.90 x 10^3 kg/m^3, flows at 6.0 m/s through a level pipe with radius of 0.50 cm. The pressure in the fluid is 1.3 x 10^5 N/m^2. This pipe connects to a second level pipe, with radius of 1.5 cm. Find the speed of flow in the second pipe.
*please help! I have a physics test tomorrow and I am utterly confused by this problem. I know that the answer is supposed to be 0.67 m/s but I can't get it. Thanks so much. 10 points to the first person that gets it right!
Density is constant.
You have increased the radius 3 times, so cross-sectional area has increased 9 times. (pi * r^2)
6.0 m/s divided by 9 gives you your answer of 0.67 m/s
