Hedman Slip
Matt Duchene over Victor Hedman?

I know I asked this earlier today but I just want some more opinions.

Matt Duchene passes Victor Hedman in international scouting rankings after a strong playoff performance for the Brampton Battalion.
I don't know what Hedman's been doing lately to cause him to slip does anyone have any info?

What are your thoughts on his slip back?

Here's a link to the story.

The rankings mean nothing. There are several sources that have public rankings, teams have their own rankings, etc. Hedman will go to bthe first team that needs him (and it will be Tampa)

Think back 2 years ago...............the number one ranked European was Alexei Cherepanov from Russia, but when draft day rolled around, Cherepanov fell behind a Dane (and apparently Cherepanov was upset about this). James vanRiemsdyk was ranked anywhere from 3rd to 7th, and went 2nd.

It really is more about what a team needs. There is growing momentum around the NHL right now that the Islanders will draft Duchene, Tampa will draft Hedman, and Toronto and Colorado will swing a deal that nets Toronto Tavares and Colorado gets a young Swedish goaltender (you heard it here first - unless you live in Montreal and Toronto and it's been talked about for a week).

There is still 8 weeks to go, and the back and forth betweenm teams this past week has been huge. A lot of potential deals are being talked about. The Islanders need scoring, Tampa needs defense, Colorado and Los Angeles need goaltending, and Atlanta could use anything.

It all comes down to what a team needs now, how long they want to wait for it, etc.
