How can I make the catalyst in my catalytic converter break apart?
I have a 1989 silverado with a glass pack and 3 1/2 inch stainless tips. its a nice truck but i want to make it louder then it is. For those of you that dont know, the catalytic converter on it is massive. Does anyone know a way to break apart tht catalyst inside without cutting pipe (I have not learned how to weld) and no body shop will do it cause its illegal. HELP ME PLEASE!
This just crossed my mind. If i driled a hole in the back of the cat, and then used something to break the catalyst inside, will that still plug up my glasspack?
The converter was designed to handle the exhaust volume produced by the engine... hollowing out the converter will add little or no effect!! Plus you have an environmental issue to contend with. Instead of glass packs why dont you find a muffler that is tuned to the application?
