this question is about Fiberglass Canoes~?
How reliable are they, we saw an 18 foot Black River fiberglass for sale and are interested, does anyone have input in fiberglass canoes? Thank you for Your help !!!!!!!!!! We have not yet owned a canoe, and any help is grateful !!
Nothing whatsoever is wrong with a fiberglass canoe. While they are a bit heavier then others - this can be a great advantage - as long as you are not having to carry it a long distance and or make a lot of portages. The big advantage is a smoother ride, and they really are easy to repair yourself. The popular plastic and aluminum models are lighter - but, when these get punctured, they are usually never repaired because no one knows how to do it themselves, and just never find or take it to a place that can repair it.
