How do Air Bags, Crumple Zones, ABS system brakes and side impact crash cage things work?
I need help on my classwork and I am kind of dumb and I don't know how these things work.
Google it - there is too much information to put on here - basics are
ABS - they prevent brakes "locking up" by "pumping" them (making them bite and release very quickly). This means that there is still the ability to steer around an obstacle rather than just skidding.
Airbags - sensors in the body detect an impact and a small explosive charge releases the bag and compressed air to pump it up extremely quickly.
Crumple zones - parts of the bodywork which will crumple and absorb some of the impact without affecting the main strengthened part of the body.
Side impact bars - strengthened bars to absorb some of any side impact.
